& Interfaith Worker Justice Coalition (JwJ).
We are a grassroots, volunteer
organization committed to worker justice. Toledo JwJ is one of
40 chartered members of the national Jobs with Justice
network and national Interfaith Worker Justice
Coalition.
Since
its inception in 2002, Jobs with Justice has been instrumental in working to improve the
rights of workers and residents throughout the community.
Activities which Jobs with Justice either directly sponsored or
actively co-sponsored include:
Bridge
the Gap for Healthcare; Campaign for Ohio’s Future; Healthcare
Action Day; Erase the Hate; Sunoco Snubs Local
Workers Campaign; Boycott of Mt Olive Pickles; Budget Cut
Olympics; March for Freedom and Justice; Toledo City Council Point of
Sale Ordinance; Call to Renewal Bus Tour; and numerous protests of
Wal-Mart, Job Losses and the effects of
Outsourcing, Minimum Wage and Protecting
Collective Bargaining Rights.
Toledo Area Jobs with Justice has a monthly
Steering Committee meeting on the fourth Monday of each month.
The minimum annual dues for an organization are $50 per year.
Individual membership is $25 annually. Additional contributions are
appreciated. Along with membership comes a position on the JwJ
Steering Committee. Organizations are encouraged
to ask members to support Jobs with Justice Actions and
sign Jobs with Justice Pledge Cards.
The Pledge is to come out 5 times a
year in support of someone else’s struggle.
With your
active support, we can continue to show the effects of these issues on
the whole community. This
organization of labor, social justice, faith communities and
individuals is uniquely positioned to shift the workers’ justice
debate to issues at the heart
of family and community values.
Together we can and are making a difference.
